9 Million People Die from Pollution Yearly

A recent study on pollution found that about 9 million people die from pollution each year. The majority of pollution related fatalities occur in second and third world countries, with countries currently working on trying to industrialize experiencing the highest number of deaths. According to the study, Somalia and Bangladesh lead the world in pollution related deaths, whereas Sweden and Brunei reported the lowest numbers. The study is the first pollution study to combine data from the various forms of pollution, such as air and water pollution, in relation to pollution related disease and death across the globe.
