Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe Removed as WHO Goodwill Ambassador

Only days after announcing President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe as their goodwill ambassador, the WHO, the World Health Organization, revoked Mugabe’s ambassadorship due to public outcry and outrage across the world over the appointment. Mugabe was appointed recently as an ambassador by the organization with the hope that he would concentrate and help influence neighboring leaders to focus on non-communicable diseases in the area. However, public outcry from human rights activists appeared immediately after the announcement of his appointment, citing human rights violations in the country under the President as the reason for opposition.
