Des Moines Register: McDonald’s Salads Possibly Tied to Parasitic Illness in Iowa, Health Officials Say

Since mid-May there have been several reports in Iowa of Cyclosporiasis. Symptoms of this parasitic disease include watery diarrhea, cramping, bloating, increased nausea and fatigue. While this parasite is more prevalent in developing countries, this recent resurgence in Iowa has been thought to be linked to salads from McDonalds. McDonalds has been removing salads provided by their usual distributor and sought other distributors in an act to avoid further sickness.
