Facebook Security Breach Exposes Accounts of 50 Million Users


This past week, Facebook announced that it had suffered its largest security breach in the company’s 14-year history, exposing the personal information of nearly 50 million users. With recent scandals and congressional hearings raising questions about user privacy, this massive breach comes at a fragile time for Facebook. Hackers were able to take advantage of three software flaws, which would allow access to not only Facebook user data, but also apps linked to Facebook, such as Instagram, Spotify, and Venmo.
