USDA: Bakkavor Foods USA, Inc. Recalls Meat and Poultry Products due to Possible Salmonella and Listeria Monocytogenes Contamination In Onions

On October 21st, Bakkavor Foods USA Inc. recalled close to 800,000 pounds of meat and poultry products containing an onion ingredient that is believed to be contaminated with Salmonella and/or Listeria. Currently, there have been no reports of illness or injury. However, if illness occurs after consumption of Bakkavor Foods products, a healthcare provider should be contacted. Symptoms of Salmonellosis include: diarrhea, cramps, and fever seen 12-72 hours after consumption. Symptoms of Listeriosis include: muscle fatigue, confusion, fever, and headache. Pregnant women are at particularly high risk.
