Pittsburgh’s hospitals’ response to synagogue shooting: Immediate, comprehensive, on-scene

On October 27 when an active shooter situation evolved at the Squirrel Hill synagogue, trained tactical physicians were on-scene within minutes to provide comprehensive emergency medical care. Dr. Leonard Weiss, is EMS medical director and assistant medical director of STAT MedEvac. He, in addition to several other physicians, was dispatched to the scene while local trauma centers were immediately notified to prepare for the mass casualty incident, including numerous hospital transports.To read more about the response efforts, click here.
