NBC News: Hundreds missing in Brazil after dam holding mining waste collapses
A dam owned by the Brazilian mining company Vale holding back mining waste in Brumadinho, Brazil collapsed resulting in the burial of the nearby community in waste, the death of at least 40 people, and almost 300 still missing. Most of those affected by the collapse were workers of the company. Though leading to a more significant loss of life than a similar dam collapse in 2015, President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil stated that this event should bring about less of an environmental toll.
