Studies have found that the drug ivermectin could reduce malaria morbidity and mortality in children under five by 50 percent. The study was published in The Lancet saying that the drug makes the patient’s blood deadly for the mosquito. Therefore, the mosquito dies after biting someone and can thus no longer transmit the disease. Researchers conducted a trial injecting residents of Burkina Faso with ivermectin, and resulted in a 20 percent reduction in malaria. Researchers are going to continue with more clinical trials and are looking to find new ways to fight malaria. click here
