NPR: HHS Spokesperson Takes Leave of Absence After Disparaging Government Scientists

In a Facebook Live, top official for the Department of Health and Human Services, Michael Caputo, proposed a conspiracy theory suggesting that Democrats and scientists are purposely prolonging COVID-19 in the U.S. to reduce Donald Trump’s chances at re-election in November. Caputo was also recently criticized for claiming that reports about COVID-19 risks, morbidity, and mortality were deliberately made to hurt Trump and his plans for reopening the country. He has since deleted the Facebook Live video and will be taking a leave of absence from his position due to “health issues.” To read more, click here.
