NYTimes: Small Towns Grow Desperate for Water in California

Though most Californians are used to living in a perpetual drought, recent measures show that within the drought there are regional inequalities as well. Specifically, in more Northern towns such as Mendocino, it can cost people around $5 to take a 5 minute shower, where in larger Southern Californian cities it costs pennies. These figures come just after the $1 trillion infrastructure deal with projects that will hopefully improve the water situation in different parts of the state. These drought conditions reveal a divide in water accessibility based on financial status, as well as showing cracks in different parts of the states’ reserve systems.
