Ghost guns refer to firearms that are put together from different parts that can be ordered online without a trace. Access to these types of weapons is only getting easier in California. This is because California has more strict gun laws, so people seeking to get weapons go a different route, buying parts that lack serial numbers and therefore cannot be traced to a single person. Therefore, people who should not be able to get possession of a gun now can. President Biden is suggesting a way to close this loophole, by making components of guns regulated the same way as guns themselves, with serial numbers and background checks required for purchase.
