With the mask mandate being lifted for public transportation, there are more and more people referring to COVID-19 as an “ordinary seasonal virus”. Despite a significant decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases over the past couple of months, more than 35, 000 people in the US are infected daily. Vaccines and boosters are proving to be effective measures; however, COVID-19 still remains much worse than a severe case of the flu. One of the biggest reasons behind it is that COVID-19 still remains an uncharted territory whereas the flue is much more predictable. We are still a long way from the endemic stage of the pandemic and it is all dependent on whether we will be faced with new variants in the near future.
