NPR: When to get your flu shot
In comparison with past years, numbers of flu cases are rising earlier this year. As a result, many health officials suggest getting vaccinated against the flu as soon as possible. It is also important to keep an eye out for when cases in your region are rising, in order to best time your vaccine. Actions that mitigated the spread of COVID-19 (e.g. masking and social distancing) also inhibited the spread of the flu, so it is believed that the flu will be more pervasive this year due to a lack of immunity from the flu from the past couple of years.
