NYTimes: New Earthquake Strikes Turkey, Rattling an Already Devastated Region

After one of the largest earthquakes Turkey has seen in decades hit earlier in February, another 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit the southern region earlier this week. The head of Turkey’s emergency response agency pleaded with citizens to avoid previously damaged buildings to prevent future injuries and deaths in the case of any aftershocks. The continued hits from earthquakes are unraveling government passes given to building contractors that prevented suitable infrastructure, and compounding the effects in neighboring Syria, which is already experiencing a humanitarian crisis.
