After three years into the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of people around the world continue to suffer from the implications of Long COVID as there currently is still no proven way to treat of prevent Long COVID. However, researchers have recently found promising signs that certain drugs, like metformin (used to treat Type 2 diabetes) and Paxlovid (used to prevent severe COVID-19 in high-risk patients), may reduce the risk of developing Long COVID and ease the symptoms among those who are already sick. Long COVID has been difficult to treat in part because the disease can take many forms that are accompanied by 200+ potential symptoms.
