BBC: Sea-level rise: West Antarctic ice shelf melt ‘unavoidable

Ice shelves, shelves of ice connected to glaciers that float above water, are super important for preventing glaciers from breaking off. A study published by Nature was able to show the effect of greenhouse gas emissions on melting west Antarctic ice shelves.
