Elevated Rates of Respiratory Illness in Chinese Youth

In response to a request by the WHO for more data on an increase in bacterial infection cases resulting in an uptick in walking pneumonia cases, the Chinese government has reported elevated rates of respiratory infection in children compared to previous years with no new viruses detected. Although not uncommon for winter, the WHO advised people to take precautions but no travel advisory was issued.
