383

PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis, is a preventative HIV drug that works by preventing HIV from entering and replicating in the body. Clinical research in Europe on 24,000 subjects has shown promising results with 99% effectiveness and reduced chances of getting HIV by 86%. Its target audience is largely gay and bisexual men, but women can use it as well. PrEP, as a result, will play a large role in the UK’s goal to ending transmission of HIV by 2030.
