Mobile Game Teaches Players to Identify Misinformation

A mobile game called Cranky Uncle, first released in 2020 and repurposed in order to combat climate change and vaccine misinformation, is being rolled out. The game teaches players how to identify various methods used to spread misinformation and the players then utilize the tools in order to combat the “cranky uncle”. According to a trial conducted in Kenya, Uganda and Ghana showed a statistically significant positive shift in attitudes towards vaccines after participants played the game.
