University of Washington Newsroom: 90% of teens killed by intimate partner violence are girls

In a study of around 2,000 homicides of those 11-18 years old in the United States, researchers found that about 150, or around 7% of the homicides, the perpetrator is a current or former intimate partner. Recent research done at the University of Washington suggests that this happens more than people may realize due to specific challenges when bringing up and discussing dating violence. The researchers discuss that is a public health issue and suggest evidence-based interventions in school and communities.
