NPR: With hurricane season approaching, researchers work to better predict storm intensity

Hurricane season starts June 1st and researchers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are working to improve their hurricane models to forecast the development of storms. Their models are made using several different data sources; some of their data sources include aircrafts, satellites, among others. NOAA has been using mathematical models for hurricane forecasting for only about 10 years, but every year they have made improvements in their forecasting abilities.
