China has deadliest day for coronavirus as US national becomes first foreigner to die

The US Embassy in Beijing confirmed that a 60-year-old US national has died from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, China on Thursday. Authorities believe this to be the first foreigner to die from the coronavirus. This was followed by China’s deadliest day on Friday since the outbreak in December, with 86 new deaths reported. According to China’s National Health Commission, to date, there have been 724 reported deaths and 34,886 reported cases.
