The Indian pharmaceutical company, Marksans Pharma Limited, is recalling their metformin hydrochloride extended release tablets between 500-700 mg sold under the brand Time-Cap Labs, Inc. This recall has been issued due to unacceptably high levels of the carcinogen   NDMA, exceeding the daily limit of 96 nanograms. This company is only one of many companies who have recalled their metformin-containing drugs in the past year, and the FDA is still investigating the origins of the trace carcinogen.
