CNN: 90,000 People Told to Evacuate Because of Fires in California

A vegetation fire began in Silverado Canyon in Irvine, CA early Monday morning. Propelled by strong winds, the fire spread quickly, burning about 2,000 acres by noon. Approximately 60,000 residents have been evacuated and some highways have been closed to assist in dealing with the fire. California is on edge; intense winds are currently blowing throughout the state, leading to many power companies turning off power in hopes of reducing risk of fires.
