NYTimes: F.D.A. Plans to Allow a Second Updated Covid Booster for Vulnerable Americans
After questions on the coverage of future COVID-19 vaccines have been widely circulating, the FDA announced that people 65+ and/or immunocompromised will be eligible for a free additional COVID booster this year. The decision to target these populations is evidenced based, as most recent deaths from COVID-19 consist of those 65 and over. Additionally, it aligns with concerns about the waning efficacy of the boosters with time. On top of the covered second booster for these age groups, the administration plans to provide another reformulated booster to coincide with the annual flu vaccine season.
