Biden announces the monkeypox outbreak as a public health emergency at a briefing with the Department of Health and Human Services. The first cases were identified in mid-May, now more than 6,600 cases have been identified. Anyone can be infected with monkeypox, but the majority of cases have been identified among men who have sex with men.
