Market Watch: Natural disasters can hurt people’s credit scores for years afterward

According to a recent report from the Urban Institute, it can take years for the finances of those impacted by natural disasters to recover. Beyond just harming residents, natural disasters appear to widen existing societal inequalities. For example, two years after Superstorm Sandy, credit scores in affected regions were 10 points lower on average compared to the years before the hurricane. Read more here.
