Use of Fake News in US-Iran Conflict

Following Iran’s missile strike on an US-Iraqi base in Iraq, the Iranian government released false information on the casualties and severity of the attack by stating that 80 Americans were killed and 200 Americans were wounded. However, US authorities have stated that there were no American casualties. The use of fake news in wartime conflicts can pose threats to not only sway the viewpoints of people within affected countries and across the world but also the potential actions by government authorities in retaliation.
