VOX: Phone booths, parades, and 10-minute test kits: How countries worldwide are fighting Covid-19

Countries around the world have taken different approaches in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. South Korea has implemented quicker testing facilities called public “photo booths” that allow one person to be tested every seven minutes. These booths are projected to allow for testing almost ten times as many samples as without the booths, in a given time period. In contrast, the Philippines response has been highly criticized, with issues such as lack of testing and personal protective equipment for staff being exacerbated by contradictory guidance from leaders. In Senegal, Pasteur Institute is currently working with Melogic, a British biotechnology firm, to create COVID-19 test kits that can provide results within 10 minutes. Singapore has done incredibly well, attributing its response to preparedness for pandemics because of the previous SARS epidemic in 2017.
