NYTimes: Trained, Armed and Ready. To Teach Kindergarten.
After the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, kindergarten teacher Mandi in Ohio began taking training classes to be able to carry guns in school. Republicans and gun rights advocates are proposing that teachers and school administrators should be armed as a “solution” in case of attacks. In fact, at least 29 states permit individuals that are not police or security officers to carry guns at schools. This method is heavily opposed by Democrats who argue that concealed carry programs only creates more risks. Supporters say that 24 hours of training is enough, but there is little research on the effectiveness of guns on school grounds in preventing school shootings. For the full article, click here.
