Los Angeles Times: Finding patients where they live: Street medicine grows, along with homeless population

A team of four, led by physician assistant Brett Feldman, search for sick homeless individuals living on the streets of Downtown Los Angeles. Street medicine teams like these are growing across the nation in order to provide for homeless populations who do not have access to healthcare. Feldman’s team, funded by USC, identifies patients, brings them to the hospital for treatment, and follows up with them in person after they are discharged. They also help sign paperwork for people who need to get into assisted living.
